Mountain memory

🐾 A Journey of Connection, Silence, and Sled Dogs- Four days with your husky team

This multi-day expedition takes you deep into the Arctic mountains—far from roads, crowds, and distractions. You'll learn to drive your own dog team, care for the dogs with calm and presence, and experience true wilderness.

From the first day, we focus on mindful handling and animal welfare. As the days unfold, you’ll become one with your team—sharing effort, silence, and trust.

We travel between valleys, across vast open terrain, and through mountain landscapes. Nights are spent at a remote lodge, with sauna, shared meals, and peaceful routines. You’ll help feed, massage, and settle the dogs each evening.

On the final day, we make our way back over the mountains to the kennel. It’s a long run—and a powerful closing to a journey that stays with you long after the snow has melted.

The first day with the dogs

  • Mindfulness

We gather in our special mindfulness tipi to explore how calm presence can deeply influence the way we interact with animals. You’ll learn why mindfulness matters—not just for us, but for the well-being of the dogs—and how it helps us build trust, reduce stress, and create clearer communication.

Through practical examples, we’ll show you how a dog responds when met with awareness and softness. You'll be introduced to simple yet powerful ways to build a more respectful and attuned relationship with your own animals—starting with yourself.

You’ll also learn the foundations of how to handle and work with sled dogs on longer tours—how to read their signals, support their recovery, and become a trustworthy partner on the trail.

  • The first sled tour

We travel along the beautiful Kalix river, which is one of the largest river systems in Europe that has not been exploited for hydroelectric purposes, with views over Swedish tallest mountain, Kebnekaise, in clear weather. The chances to see moose are big as we pass through the moose’s winter grazing land. We go with the dogs on swamps, mountain forests and the Kalixriver, The river is an important migration route for many migratory birds, and it is also an important reproduction area for salmon and trout.

During this tour you will share a sled with one of the other participants. You will also do part of the tour together with the guide: that is by far the best way to learn how to handle the dogs.

  • Massage

We will also teach you how to do a full body massage and how to do a check up, massage and streching of the dogs after the run. This we do after every tour. It is an important part of our animal welfare work.

The coming days

  • Over the mountains

Today we will bring our teams up over the mountains. Here you will have to help the dogs and work more yourself but will be rewarded with an amazing view. The landscape is untouched, there are no roads and no houses. We travel from the Kalix River valley to the Kaitum River Valley. The dogs (or snowmobiles) are our only way to reach this area.

Lunch will take place outdoors. If we are lucky, we might even catch our own fish for lunch.

At the end of the day we will reach Camp Tjuonajokk situated 35 km from the closest road. The accommodation is simple but comfortable. You will enjoy a three course dinner served in the restaurant.

Before sauna and dinner we take care of the dogs. Together we massage and feed them and make sure they are comfortable for the night.

  • In the mountains

We take our teams in the area around Tjuonajokk. Surrounded by beutiful mountains we enjoy nature togheter with the dogs

  • Back over the mountains

We head away over the mountains to get back to the kennel. We have about 50 km to run and it will take whole day.

By now you will start to feel that you are one with the dogs.

When we have taken care of the dogs they are all settled for the night it is time to say goodbye and we bring you back to your hotel.
